Description
Made by Hunter Arms Gun Company/ L.C. Smith of Fulton, NY in 1931. The factory letter states gun was made for John G. Nuebling of Reading, PA. Nuebling ran a bicycle shop that converted bikes to motorcycles. This gun is 1 of 778 "Skeet Specials" made, 1 of 545 total 12 gauges, and 1 of 63 with 32" barrels. A truly rare gun. Gun has blued 32" London Steel 12 gauge barrels choked full and full with factory ventilated rib, high "viz" front sight, and missing mid rib sight with 2-3/4" chambers, ejectors and standard L.C. Smith "Skeet Special" markings. Case-hardened regular frame with barrels having reinforced lug. Standard Skeet Special "Bird" and "Clay Pigeon" engraving. Action is listed as coming with a "Hunter One Trigger", that is crossed out and a Miller non-selective has been installed at the factory or Miller factory. The gun is equipped with non-automatic safety for trap shooting. Walnut checkered factory pistol grip stock that has a Morgan adjustable pad fitted on it post-factory. Matching checkered walnut Schnabel Beavertail forearm with roller latch release. Gun comes with Cody research letter confirming all options except noted non-factory additions. LOP: 14-1/2". Condition
90% original barrel blue with wear at muzzles. 70% original case colors with carry areas worn and discolored to a silvery brown patina. 90% original varnish with sharp checkering and a ding in forearm checkering. Excellent mirror bores with crisp mechanics, good screws and tight lockup.
